Vikings Haven't Told J.J. McCarthy He'll Start In 2025

J.J. McCarthy has not been informed by the Minnesota Vikings that he will be their starting quarterback in 2025. The Vikings have uncertainty at quarterback beyond McCarthy following the departures of Sam Darnold and Daniel Jones.

The Vikings had interest in Aaron Rodgers, but decided not to move forward with him at this time.

McCarthy became the first NFL first-round quarterback in the modern draft era to miss his entire rookie season because of injury after tearing the meniscus in his right knee last August. 

"And I'm happy they didn't, because I try to earn it every single day. And I never want that to be given to me. it's such a privilege and opportunity to give me that chance, and I'm just going to make the most of it every single day," McCarthy said in the interview with Kay Adams, which aired Tuesday, from the NFLPA Classic golf tournament in Mexico.
