Argentina became the first South American side to qualify for the 2026 World Cup with their 4-1 win over Brazil on Tuesday. Argentina are the defending champions after winning the World Cup in 2022 in Qatar.
"Congratulations, Argentina, on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup," president of South American soccer's governing body CONMEBOL Alejandro Dominguez wrote on his X account.
"Let's defend the crown and make the continent proud!"
Lionel Messi's place in Argentina's squad is not yet known. Messi currently has an injury to his adductor and was not included in Argentina's squad for this round of matches.
