Juan Soto: I Want To Be The Best Hitter Of All Time

When Juan Soto met with Steve Cohen, he was asked about his aspirations. Soto was coming off the best year of his career, hitting .288/.419/.569 with 41 home runs. His lifetime on-base percentage of .421 is 13th among all players with at least 2,000 plate appearances in the modern era.

"I want to be the best hitter of all time," Soto said.

The New York Mets and Soto agreed to a 15-year, $765 million deal with no deferred money. But Soto was nervous as he was set to report to spring training with the Mets.

"I feel like I have everything in front of me," Soto said. "I just gotta put the work in and do what I have to do. It's going to take a lot, but I think when you put the bar that high and you put your goals in a big spot, it brings the best out of you, and that's what I want to bring every day."
